[PRODUCER'S PERSPECTIVE: putting together one of Wednesday morning's SKINNY stories] It appears that Lindsay Lohan's next gig may just come in the form of a porn star! The producer of the upcoming film "Inferno" plans to make the announcment at the Cannes Film Festival later next week. (LINK). Obviously we jump on any chance to talk about LiLo in the SKINNY. To visually tell this story, I just pulled a framegrab of an online article (this time from NY Daily News), plus pulled in file footage of Lindsay Lohan. Pretty simple. Now is this a smart move for Lohan? We'll see! CLICK PLAY:

[PRODUCER'S PERSPECTIVE: putting together one of Wednesday morning's SKINNY stories] In the SKINNY last week, Britney Spears allowed before & after pictures to be released from her 2009 Candie's photo shoot (LINK). I gathered the images from the online article and had graphics scroll through them. As video, I had Spears' "Circus" music video ready to go. CLICK PLAY:

[PRODUCER'S PERSPECTIVE: putting together Tuesday morning's lead SKINNY story] There were a couple stories worth leading the SKINNY this morning (we missed out on the 'Bombshell' McGee apology to Sandra Bullock)... but the challenge is when you look online for ideas the night before, there may be too few facts or supporting media (interviews, pictures, video, etc.). In this case, TMZ was leading with the Steven Seagal sex allegation that one of his young employees was being treated as a "sex toy." There were legal documents in PDF format which I used along with Seagal's headshot to illustrate the story... but what was lacking were video elements. Since this story was still developing (and continues to be on TMZ's homepage: LINK), I opted to use a 2009 "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" interview with the actor. Not the best option, but it worked. Here's the final product... [click play]

(EDITOR'S NOTE: a little behind-the-scenes info about this morning's SKINNY) I first saw the article from the New York Daily News and I pitched it to the anchors who then eventually chose it to lead the SKINNY. I then went ahead and gathered the graphic elements which would best tell the story. First we started with a fullscreen of the actual article as it appeared on the NY Daily News website -- easy enough! Then we move along to the actual tweet from Jim Carrey (which I had graphics build a fullscreen twitter page). Lastly, a fullscreen of all three characters: Jim Carrey, Tiger & Elin (shown below). Indeed, there was Tiger Woods video that I had edited, but that was back-up. SEE THE FINAL PRODUCT... CLICK PLAY BELOW:

When Jeremy Hubbard called-out sick one morning early this year, Peter Martinez was asked to help Vinita Nair co-anchor this edition of the SKINNY from "World News Now." Peter Martinez, 23, has demonstrated his skills in digital media production since 2004. In his senior year at Los Alamitos High School, Martinez enrolled in a Multimedia Production ROP class where he learned non-linear video editing with Final Cut Pro. He started producing a weekly newscast called Griffin News. From that point forward, Martinez knew that broadcast journalism is the career he’d like to pursue.
In 2004, he chose to study communications at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) and graduated with honors in August 2008 -- one of CSUF's largest graduating classes. Martinez has a B.A. in Communications with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism. He was featured during the CSUF Commencement ceremony by the president:
Martinez was involved at CSUF since his freshman year. As a broadcast journalist, he worked at Titan Communications, the on-campus television station that reached thousands of homes in Orange County. He produced a newscast called On the Edge which won an award from the Society of Professional Journalists for a breaking news event. |
